Production to be ramped up from December.
Hyundai Motor India has stated that the Hyundai Creta has received 70,000 bookings and 340,000 enquiries in India. The company has also revealed that export demand for the crossover has risen to over 15,770 units.
The Hyundai Creta was launched in India in July and its exports were set to commence soon after. Due to unprecedented demand in the local market, the export plans were pushed by a few months. The India-made compact SUV is being shipped to Latin American markets comprising of Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru and Panama; the Middle East including Oman, UAE and Saudi Arabia, and the African nations like Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria; among others. Around 44 countries are expected to receive the Creta from India.
Owing to the high demand, the company is now producing around 10,000 units per month at its plant in Irungattukottai near Chennai, which is roughly double the initial production target. Consequentially, the waiting period of certain variants of the Creta in some cities in India came down to three months from the earlier ten months. The automatic version is reported to have the longest wait time.
