Will be Hyundai's first sub-4m SUV.
In an interview with The Economic Times, YK Koo, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, has stated that the Hyundai sub-4m SUV will be introduced in the first half of 2019.
The production-spec Carlino is reported to look significantly different from the concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, which expressed Hyundai's intentions in entering the lucrative sub-4m SUV segment. It had received good attention at the Auto Expo show floor, thus giving the Korean company the confidence to green-light its production in India.
Internally codenamed QXi, the Hyundai sub-4m SUV will offer a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi turbocharged diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 5-speed manual as well as an Automated Manual gearbox (AMT).
Mr Koo has also divulged that there are eight new products in the pipeline for launch by 2020, of which three will be new segment products and five will be next generation products, apart from regular product enhancements and facelifts.
