Will be Hyundai's first sub-4m SUV.
In an interview with The Economic Times, YK Koo, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, has stated that the Hyundai sub-4m SUV will be introduced in the first half of 2019.
The production-spec Carlino is reported to look significantly different from the concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, which expressed Hyundai's intentions in entering the lucrative sub-4m SUV segment. It had received good attention at the Auto Expo show floor, thus giving the Korean company the confidence to green-light its production in India.
Internally codenamed QXi, the Hyundai sub-4m SUV will offer a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi turbocharged diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 5-speed manual as well as an Automated Manual gearbox (AMT).
