FCA India will expand the Jeep Compass lineup with the introduction of a new variant. A blue-coloured Jeep Compass Trailhawk was recently spotted in India, courtesy Team-BHP. The Trailhawk variant's launch is reported to take place by July.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is instantly recognisable because of cetain distinctive styling elements. It features unique front and rear fascias, black hood decal, Ruby Red recovery hooks, darkened upper grille surround, fog lamp bezels, mirrors, window surrounds and roof rails, 17-inch dual-tone off-road alloy wheels, darkened Jeep badges, Trail Rated fender badges and Trailhawk tailgate badge.
Inside, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is differentiated with features like all weather floor mats (front and rear), reversible carpet/vinyl cargo mat in the cargo area and Trailhawk branding on the seat covers’ backrests. Jeep may offer the Uconnect 8.4-inch NAV touchscreen infotainment system with navigation in the Jeep Compass Trailhawk. This system is unavailable in any of the standard Jeep Compass configurations in our market.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is more off-road capable than the regular Jeep Compass. It has uniquely designed bumpers for better approach angle (30.3°), breakover angle (24.4°) and departure angle (33.6°). It uses off-road suspension for a higher ground clearance (225 mm). Also unique to the Trailhawk variant is the Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 system and the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system with Rock Mode.
The Indian-spec Jeep Compass Trailhawk will have the familiar 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine under the hood. The turbocharged diesel mill produces 173 PS and 350 Nm of torque. However, while the regular Compass powered by this engine has a 6-speed manual transmission, the Compass Trailhawk could have this engine coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Although, a Team-BHP user mentions that a Jeep dealer informed him that even the Trailhawk variant will come with a manual transmission. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is expected to retail at around INR 24 lakh (ex-showroom).
