All-new Wagon R could come to India next year.

A facelift for the Maruti Wagon R is not officially in the works, but graphic artist Adrians Ramadhani has created a rendering of what he believes a mid-cycle facelift for the Suzuki Wagon R GS (Maruti Wagon R for Indonesia) could look like.

New Maruti Wagon R facelift rendered
The rendered Wagon R integrates Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield front fascia.

It's interesting to see that the rendered Wagon R integrates Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield front fascia. The front fascia looks more contemporary and aggressive than the current Wagon R GS, but it's unlikely that a facelifted Wagon R - if in the works - will look like the model rendered.

Like the model sold in India, the Wagon R GS in Indonesia is powered by a 1.0L K10B DOHC 3-cylinder petrol engine with 68 PS and 90 Nm of peak torque. It can be had with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AGS (automated manual transmission), and average a fuel mileage of 20.51 km/L (Indian cycle).

In India, the next-gen Wagon R is expected to have a three-row variant (code: Maruti YJC). Web reports ask readers to expect the FMC only in 2018.

In Japan, the Wagon R is in its sixth generation, since it was launched for sale on February 4, 2017. Both the Suzuki Wagon R and Suzuki Wagon R Stingray are based on the lightweight 'HEARTECT' platform, and are powered by a smaller R06A 0.66-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 52 PS, while the Stingray variant exclusively has the option of a turbocharged version with 64 PS. Both models can spec'd as a mild hybrid with a 2.3 kW motor connected to the N/A 0.66L IC engine.
