Hero MotoCorp first showcased the XPulse concept at the EICMA 2017 in Milan, while the bike made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2018. Now, new details and official images of the Hero XPulse 200 have been leaked, courtesy to a Facebook user. The XPulse 200 is the spiritual successor to the Impulse 150 and shares its underpinnings and mechanicals with the recently showcased Hero Xtreme 200R. Here is everything you need to know about the Hero XPulse 200.
Hero MotoCorp has taken the functional design route when it comes to the XPulse 200. The bike gets a minimalist design in round LED headlight, a sculpted fuel tank with knee recesses, a single seat setup and a slightly raised tail section with LED tail lamp. The bike gets ground clearance, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with knobby off-road tyres, raised exhaust canister and a wind deflector. The XPulse 200 also comes equipped with an engine bash plate.
The Hero XPulse 200 comes equipped with an all-digital instrument cluster that displays information like trip meter, average fuel consumption, distance-to-empty and gear position indicator among others. The bike comes equipped with an under-seat USB charger and Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation. The production-spec bike is also expected to get panniers as well as a top box as part of the accessories. The bike also gets a 14-litre fuel tank, which should aid long distance touring. The bike will get disc brakes on both ends along with single-channel ABS as standard.
Chassis & Dimensions
The Hero Xpulse 200 is underpinned by a new single-downtube chassis along with a box-section swingarm. The front suspension gets 190mm travel while the rear mono-shock gets a suspension travel of 170mm while the ground clearance stands at 220 mm. The bike gets a saddle height of 825mm, which according to us is on a slightly higher side considering the average height of an Indian rider.
The Hero XPulse 200 shares its mechanicals with the recently unveiled Hero Xtreme 200R. The bike is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 18 bhp of maximum power and 17 Nm of peak torque on the Xtreme 200R, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. That said, Hero MotoCorp will tune this engine differently on the XPulse 200 to provide better low-end and mid-range torque. The company may also use a larger rear sprocket along with different gear ratios to aid during off-road expeditions.
Launch Date & Expected Price
Hero hasn’t yet revealed the launch timeline of the XPulse 200. However, we expect it to be launched by the end of this year or early next year. Currently, the company is concentrating its energies on launching the Hero Xtreme 200 R, which should be launched anytime soon. As for the XPulse 200, the production version is expected to be priced around INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
