Hero MotoCorp’s highest-selling product, the Splendor has taken another massive hit in its sales performance in July this year. The commuter segment motorcycle witnessed a 50% fall in year-on-year sales in July 2019. Hero MotoCorp sold 1,30,333 units of the Splendor in July 2019 as against 2,60,865 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

The Hero Splendor and Honda Activa are usually in constant competition for the highest-selling two-wheeler tag. The Honda Activa, for reference, found 2,43,604 buyers last month. Check out the six-month sales performance of Hero Splendor vs. the Honda Activa in the table below:

It’s the third consecutive month when Hero MotoCorp reported sub-two lakh sales figures for the Splendor. The overall automobile industry is suffering from lacklustre sales. In terms of overall year-on-year sales in July 2019, Hero MotoCorp witnessed a 22.9% fall while Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India saw a 10.5% decline. Meanwhile, Suzuki Motorcycle India registered a 17% growth in the same period.

To boost its sales during the festive season, Hero MotoCorp has announced the ‘Hero Scooters Grand Carnival’ offer. Hero MotoCorp will offer low down-payment, low rate of interest, service offers and PayTM benefits worth 8,500. The offer is valid on Hero MotoCorp’s complete scooter range. The brand has also started a home delivery service of new two-wheelers to enhance the buying experience. The new home delivery service costs INR 349 over the on-road price of any new two-wheeler from the Indian manufacturer.

Meanwhile, the Hero MotoCorp is working on updating its product portfolio to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The company received the BS-VI certification for the Splendor iSmart in June this year, and we expect to hear the launch date very soon. The BS-VI iteration of the Splendor iSmart was designed and developed at Hero MotoCorp’s Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.
