After the sporty Ford Figo S, Ford is developing a rugged Ford Figo Cross (Ford Freestyle) for India. IAB reader Saahil Kapoor recently spotted a Ford Figo Cross testing near Sanand, Gujarat, where Ford manufactures the Figo & Aspire.
On the outside, the Ford Figo Cross features extra body cladding, black hood decal, black mesh pattern radiator grille with black surround, black roof rails, black ORVMs, distinctive 15-inch alloy wheels shod with 185/60 R15 tyres, chrome door handle trim and chrome beltline moulding. Inside, the Cross variant has a newly designed centre console that will later make it to the regular Figo and the Aspire with their mid-cycle update. It gets the brand’s SYNC 3 infotainment system which is currently limited to the Endeavour and EcoSport.
The Cross is powered by a new 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Dragon engine family. It’s a naturally aspirated three-cylinder unit that delivers 95 hp and 115 Nm of torque. The new MX65 5-speed manual transmission from Getrag sends power to the front wheels. An automatic transmission option may follow at a later stage. Along with the bigger wheels and tyres, the Cross variant has a 15 mm higher ground clearance (189 mm).

The Ford Figo Cross will reach showrooms in the coming months. It won't debut at Auto Expo 2018, as Ford has decided to skip the show. After this model’s rollout, Ford will give the Ford Aspire and Ford Figo a facelift.
