The electric variant of the TVS Jupiter was spotted in August. It is likely that the scooter will be equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a range of at least 50 km. Going by the pictures of the test mule spotted in August, the scooter features telescopic front fork; rear monoshock, and alloy wheels, just like the standard Jupiter. The instrument cluster is all-digital and is likely to indicate the battery charge, range, apart from the speed. Brakes include drum units on both ends.
TVS’ upcoming electric two-wheelers will rival products from Hero Electric and Lohia Auto in the Indian market. The Hosur-based company is working on an electric motorcycle as well. Bajaj is also planning to enter the segment under the brand “Urbanite” before 2020. Mahindra is working on an electric scooter based on the Gusto, and the brand plans to bring GenZe electric scooters to India as well.
