Ducati India has launched two motorcycles in India today, the Ducati Monster 797 and Ducati Multistrada 950. The motorcycles were unveiled globally at EICMA 2016.
Ducati Monster 797
The baby Monster is focused towards emerging markets, especially South East Asia. The motorcycle uses the powerplant from the Scrambler range. The air-cooled 803 cc Desmodue L-twin mill produces 75 PS of maximum power at 8,250 rpm and 68.9 Nm of peak torque at 5,750 rpm, mated to a 6-speed unit. The frame is a single piece unit, and the triangular swingarm is a clear reminder of the Monster 696 from 2008. The fuel tank has a characteristic Monster lineage and can store 16.5-litre of petrol.
The Ducati Monster 797 has a seat height of 805 mm and a kerb weight of 193 kg. Brakes include M4 32 monobloc calipers on 320 mm semi-floating discs and an axial-pump brake lever with an incorporated fluid reservoir. The rear wheel gets a 245 mm disc with a single-piston Brembo caliper. The bike also gets Bosch 9.1 M ABS system as standard.
Features include an LCD instrumentation, LED position lights, APTC clutch, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres, under seat USB port and Bosch ABS. The Ducati Monster 797 is suspended over upside down 43 mm Kayaba fork and a Sachs monoshock with adjustable preload and damping. Colour options include Ducati Red, Star White Silk and Dark Stealth.
The Ducati Monster 797 has been priced at an introductory INR 7.77 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Ducati Multistrada 950
The Ducati Multistrada 950 is powered by a 937 cc Testastretta 11-degree mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox capable of producing 113 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 96.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,750 rpm. The bike gets four riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro). Brakes are Brembo M4 32 calipers in the front biting over dual 320 mm discs. The rear brake gets a 245 mm disc with a floating caliper.
Ducati also offers Ducati Traction Control (8 levels) and 3 level ABS by Bosch as standard in the bike. The Ducati Multistrada 950 is suspended over fully adjustable 48 mm Kayaba fork up front and Sachs monoshock in the rear. Colour options include Ducati Red and Star Silk White (available from November 2017).
The fuel tank can store 20 litre of petrol, and the bike has a seat height of 820 mm. The Ducati Multistrada 950 is shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres.
The Ducati Monster 950 has a price tag of INR 12.60 lakhs (post-GST ex-showroom, Delhi price).
