Renault Kwid's mechanical twin to follow with the same options this year.
Last year, the Renault Kwid saw the addition of the 1.0-litre engine and the automated manual transmission. This year, it is going to be the turn of its mechanical twin Datsun Redi-Go, to pick up these updates.
According to a report from Economic Times, the Datsun Redi-Go range will be expanded with a 1.0-litre engine and automated manual transmission models by June 2017.
The Datsun Redi-Go will get the same 1.0-litre SCe engine that powers the Renault Kwid. The naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol unit develops 68 PS at 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm, featuring 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual transmissions.
Like in the Renault Kwid AMT, the Datsun Redi-Go could borrow a rotary dial for gear selection. Considering that the latter is the cheaper offering, a conventional gear stick may get used instead, helping differentiate the Renault Kwid AMT as the premium car.

The Redi-Go with the 1.0-litre engine could start at about INR 3.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Redi-Go with the automated manual transmission at INR 4.00 lakh, as per the report.
