Before plunging into the story, we shall inform you that the Datsun Cross Go is purely a designer's fantasy and not an actually planned model, at least not something Datsun has announced that it's working on.
Since crossovers and hatchbacks with rough road package are prevalent nowadays, a similar version of the Datsun Go, an humble sub four lakh hatchback, also gets envisioned. The rendering is a courtesy of Xtomi.blogspot.hu.
The addition of plastic cladding has surprisingly made the otherwise conservative looking car sporty. The raised suspension and accentuated wheel arches along with the typical black plastic add-on gives it the so called crossover appeal. Add to it a bigger set of wheels and your affordable soft SUV is ready!
India is witnessing similar model line extensions lately. The Skoda Fabia Scout started off the proceedings which was followed by the Volvo V40 Cross Country. VW is at the brink of introducing the Cross Polo and Fiat is also reportedly considering a Punto with a rough road package.
As far as we know, Datsun is working on two more products apart from the Go - a hatchback that will sit below the Go and a 7-seater based on the Go.
A Go Cross is unlikely to be on Datsun's current agenda, but if at all this particular segment witnesses robust growth in the future the rendering shows what to expect from Datsun.
