The Chevrolet Spin MPV, which is the international counterpart to the Chevrolet Enjoy in a few emerging markets, is getting a soft-road version in Brazil.
A report on Noticias Automotivas says that the soft-road Spin will be based on the top-end LTZ variant and be priced slightly above it. The LTZ retails for R$ 58,990 (Rs 15.84 lakh) for the manual transmission and R$ 62,790 (Rs 16.87 lakh) for the automatic transmission trim.
The rendering on the report shows that the Spin gets a rear-mounted spare wheel, smoked headlamps, black front and rear bumpers along with black wheel arches.
In Brazil, the Spin MPV is powered by a 1.8-litre Econoflex engine producing 108 hp mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The LTZ trim by itself gets two packages, the standard R9P equips the MPV with dual front airbags, EBD and ABS, along with 7-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls and a five-speed manual gearbox amongst other regular features.
The optional R9Q package for R$ 3,800 (Rs 1.02 lakh) adds a 6-speed automatic gearbox and cruise control.
If put into production, the Chevrolet Spin soft-road will try competing in Brazil against SUVs like the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport which have limitations in seating capacity for the customer from an extended family.
