Just like how the Chinese love to have long wheel base versions for every car on the market, the Brazilians seem to love the off-road tag attached to their rides.
We have seen a range of pseudo-off roaders hitting the Brazilian auto market like the Etios Cross, Gol Rallye, etc. The latest entrant in this segment could be the Chevrolet Spin.
While the other models in this category have been derived from hatchbacks, the Spin is an MPV underneath. A rendering by Briigato Design shows what the final version could look like.
The so called off road version of the Spin is expected to hit the market in March. The model could have the spare wheel exposed at the rear, a feature which the local customers prefer to have. Plastic claddings on the bumpers, fenders and the lower part of the body would lend the MPV a tough look.
New alloy wheels equipped with all-terrain tyres along with a raised suspension is expected to feature on the cross version of the Spin. Mechanically, the car would still be powered by a 1.8-litre Econoflex engine producing 108 hp mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic.
