Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch BS-VI compliant version of Hero Splendor iSmart+ in the domestic market. A new report from ETAuto claims that the Gurgaon-based manufacturer has commenced dispatch of the updated motorcycle to its dealers. The report adds that the initial lot of the motorcycle will be used for product familiarisation and training of dealer staff.
The first lot of dispatch is set to reach dealerships before the end of this week. At present, the Hero Splendor iSmart+ is priced at INR 56,280 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The report further adds that the price hike for the Hero Splendor iSmart+ BS-VI will be in the range of 12-15%. Hero MotoCorp had earlier announced that it has received BS-VI certification of Splendor iSmart+ from iCAT in June 2019.
In its present tune, the Hero Splendor iSmart+ is powered by a 109.15 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Coupled to a 4-speed gearbox, the engine produces 9.5 PS of power and 9 Nm of torque. The bike gets i3S technology which stops the engine when the bike stops for a small duration say at a traffic signal. To get the engine running again, the rider just has to press the clutch lever.

Hero MotoCorp has developed the BS-VI complaint Hero Splendor iSmart+ at its Jaipur-based R&D facility. In fact, the Splendor iSmart+ was its first indigenously developed motorcycle from this facility. Called Hero Centre of Innovation and Technology, the facility was inaugurated in March 2016 with an initial investment of INR 450 crores.
The latest news better be taken with a pinch of salt. Hero MotoCorp has been known to dispatch products to its dealers well ahead of the launch. The Hero Xtreme Sports, for instance, was dispatched to dealers months ahead of the launch.
