BMW has announced that the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo’s assembly at the BMW Group Plant Chennai in India has commenced. The first unit of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo’s successor rolled off the assembly line today.
Launched at Auto Expo 2018 earlier this month, the first-ever BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is available in India in only the BMW 630i model. The most basic model employs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 258 hp at 5,000-6,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,550-4,400 rpm. The 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. An adaptive 2-axle air suspension is standard.
On the outside, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo features Adaptive LED headlights with LED DRLs and LED turn indicators, automatic tailgate, LED rear lights and an active rear spoiler.
The BMW 6 Series GT is available in India in only the Sport Line equipment line. This character package includes features like Kidney Grille with black high-gloss vertical slats and chrome high-gloss frame, LED fog lights, distinctive bumpers with black high-gloss elements, black high-gloss Air Breather finishers, B-pillar finisher, mirror base and mirror foot, aluminium high-gloss side window surrounds, ‘Sport’ designation on the side, 18-inch double-spoke style 619 alloy wheels and black chrome tailpipe trim.
4-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, panoramic glass roof, 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional touchscreen infotainment system with BMW Gesture Control, 205-watt, 12-speaker sound system and sport seats (front) are some of the interior highlights of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. Sport Line interior features Leather Dakota upholstery with line-specific stitching and leather piping.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo petrol retails at INR 58,90,000 (ex-showroom). BMW will launch the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo diesel in India by June this year.
