To compete in the growing sub-2 lakh tourer segment.
ZigWheels reports that the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 could be launched on February 1 which is the date Bajaj Auto has announced that a new product will be unveiled. Some reports claim that the first motorcycle belonging to the upcoming Bajaj commuter brand will be introduced on that day, while IndianAutosBlog believes that the company could launch the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI instead.
The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 debuted at the 2014 Auto Expo alongside the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 which is less likely to be launched on February 1, as Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto's Managing Director, told Economic Times last year that the company likes to see the Pulsar 400 debut as power cruiser at some point in this financial year. He added that the model would be the next flagship of the Pulsar brand, which rules out the possibility of the Pulsar SS400 arriving ahead of the CS400.

The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 would be powered by a 375 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve triple-spark FI engine that is based on the motor seen on the KTM Duke 390 and KTM RC 390.
