The ABS-equipped Bajaj motorcycles have started to arrive at dealership warehouses and the prices for the updated models are out. The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and the Cruise 220 with ABS are priced at INR 1,02,425 (ex-showroom) – premium of approximately INR 6,700 over the outgoing model.
Select dealerships have started to accept bookings, and deliveries should commence this month.
Similar to the Bajaj Pulsar ABS variants, Avenger Cruise 220, Street 220 and Street 180 get a single-channel unit to keep the prices competitive. Apart from ABS, the safety net features the rear-wheel lift protection (RLP) sensor.
A 220cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder DTSi engine delivers 19 PS of maximum power and 17.5 Nm of peak torque on the Avenger. The motor is paired with a 5-speed transmission. Stopping power comes from disc brakes on both ends. Typical cruiser style ergonomics deliver a comfortable riding stance.
The 2019 Bajaj Avenger 220 ABS has arrived well ahead of the April 2019 deadline set by the Indian Government. This is a mid-life upgrade and a completely new Avenger family will arrive in 2020 as the third generation Bajaj cruiser.
The Bajaj Avenger 220 range receives more demand that the relatively affordable Avenger 180. The 220cc cruiser has been clocking average monthly sales of over 3,000 units from June to November while the Avenger series accounts for 5,000-6,000 units of the total sales every month.
In more updates, Bajaj will next introduce the updated Dominar 400 in the Indian market and we expect to receive an update this month.
