While its Indian launch is just a couple of months away, the Audi A3 Sedan made its Malaysian debut at an outdoor cinema event held at Starlight Cinema in Bukit Kiara near Kuala Lampur.
The Audi A3 Sedan for the Malaysian market will be offered with two petrol engines: 1.8 TFSI quattro and 1.4 TFSI with front wheel drive. The 1.8 TFSI quattro will come in a Sport variant with features such as halogen headlamps (HID headlamps are optional), 17-inch 'Dynamic' split alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and wipers.
Inside, the top-end A3 Sedan gets Milano leather upholstery complete with leather wrapped steering wheel, powered driver seat, navigation, cruise control and dual zone climate control. The entry level luxury sedan will also come with a Start-Stop system and the Audi Drive Select system.
The 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine puts out 140 PS and 250 Nm of torque while the more powerful 1.8-litre TFSI motor is capable of 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines will come mated to a 7-speed S-tronic automatic transmission.
The prices are not announced yet but it's estimated to start at RM 180,000 (around INR 33.65 lakhs). Competition would come mainly from the Mercedes CLA which is already on sale in the country.
In India, the A3 Sedan is expected to go on sale in August with petrol and diesel engines.
