Mahindra has lined up four new launches for FY2019. From three of these models, namely the Mahindra Marazzo (Mahindra U321), Mahindra Rexton (SsangYong Y400) and Mahindra S201, Mahindra expects a volume of up to 8,500 units a month.
The info was revealed by Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra in an interview with The Economic Times. “We expect a volume of 8,000-8,500 per month,” Dr. Goenka said.
Of the 8,500 units, the Marazzo and S201 should have the major contribution, as Dr Goenka has said before that the Rexton is a niche product for Mahindra, and will be the most expensive car in its history. The Mahindra Rexton’s close competitors Ford Endeavour and Ford Toyota Fortuner sell ~500 units and ~2,000 units a month respectively. The Mahindra S201 may pull in the highest sales of the trio, given the strong demand for sub-4 metre SUVs in the country.
The new models will sure help boost the gross sales, but one cannot rule out some level of sales cannibalisation because of existing models in the same segments in case of the volume models Marazzo and S201.

The Mahindra Marazzo’s launch is on Monday. It will fall in the price segment between the Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta. The Mahindra Rexton will follow, before Diwali as SsangYong started shipping its CKD kits to India last month. A report last month said that the Mahindra S201 will arrive in January 2019.
