SsangYong has confirmed in a release that it has started shipping G4 Rexton CKD kits to India. This is a clear indication of an imminent launch of the Mahindra Rexton.
Mahindra is likely to launch the G4 Rexton in India by Diwali this year. Internally codenamed Y400, the upcoming SUV will become the flagship model in Mahindra's line-up. The Mahindra Rexton will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Isuzu MU-X. The mid-size SUV will be sold with a Mahindra badge and a different front grille. Rest of the SUV will be bog similar to the Ssangyong G4 Rexton.
Mahindra will likely offer the Rexton with the 2.2-litre diesel engine that develops 181 PS and 420 Nm of torque. A 7-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system are expected as standard. More options are available internationally, but low volumes won't make them feasible for our market.
The Mahindra Rexton's salient features will include HID headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, electric sunroof, ventilated seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a full leather upholstery. It will have an electric parking brake and many safety features, such as nine airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and more.

The Mahindra Rexton could have a starting price of around INR 24 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to the G4 Rexton, Mahindra will launch the Marazzo before Diwali, by September. In January next year, it will launch the S201 sub-4-metre SUV. The Mahindra Marazzo will likely slot between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. The Mahindra S201 will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
