The 2020 Hyundai ix25 that was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2019 in April will be launched in China in August. This development is being reported by local media, and Beijing-Hyundai is yet to announce the launch timeline.
The Hyundai ix25 and Hyundai Creta have been the same models until now, but it may not be the case in the second generation. The former has gone tad extreme in terms of looks, which could be polarizing, more on the negative side, in markets other than China. The second-gen Hyundai Creta is going to have a different design in Brazil, and the same may be the case in India.
In the second generation, the ix25 boasts a fully transformed new look. In line with the latest exterior theme adopted by SUVs worldwide, it packs a futuristic light design at both the ends and a more prominent radiator grille. With the new aggressive design, Hyundai hopes to rope in more young buyers. The front-end is inspired by that of the company's new flagship SUV Palisade.
In India, the next-gen Hyundai Creta will likely be available with the newly developed 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engines from the facelifted Hyundai Verna and the 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine from the Hyundai Venue. In case the new turbocharged petrol engine is offered, a 7-speed DCT option is a given. An AWD system may not be offered owing to low demand in our market.
