Indian Autos Blog learnt at the unveiling event that the Chetak electric scooter will be launched in January next year. Bajaj Auto will reportedly use the KTM outlets in Pune and Bengaluru to offer the Chetak electric scooter in the initial phase. The company will then upgrade its existing outlets to deliver a premium buying experience to the customers.

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will lock horn with the Ather 450 in Bengaluru. Ather Energy also plans to expand its reach, and the company will set up stores in Pune very soon.

While the Ather 450 carries modern styling, the Chetak features a retro design. The electric scooter from the Pune based two-wheeler brand packs LED lighting (headlight, DRL, blinkers and taillight). The front apron features Chetak branding. The fully digital instrument console and backlit switchgear add a modern touch to the retro-styling. Bajaj Auto has opted to use steel-body to give the Chetak electric scooter a premium look. The EV will be available in six colour options.

In terms of performance, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will reportedly feature a 4 kW motor that will be fed by an IP67 rated battery pack, which will be chargeable through a 5-15 amp electric outlet. The charging cycle will be governed by an Intelligent Battery Management System. The Chetak electric scooter will feature two riding modes - Eco (100 km range) and Sport (80 km range). The top speed will most likely vary based on the selected riding mode.
