The source report adds that the premium KTM dealerships will be more fitting for the retail of the new Bajaj Chetak than the company's own outlets. However, it may be noted here that things are about to get crowded at the KTM outlets as the Husqvarna 401 range, too, will be sold via the same showrooms. Furthermore, the Austrian brand will expand its own portfolio in our market with the launch of the 390 Adventure and the 250 Adventure. It is, however, a temporary arrangement as Bajaj will reportedly upgrade its existing dealerships for a premium buying experience.

Bajaj Auto had unveiled the Chetak electric scooter earlier this month. The company is yet to reveal the performance numbers and the price tag for the product. However, Autocar claims that the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will boast a 4 kW motor and the price will not exceed INR 1.4 lakh (on-road) tag.

While those figures are yet to be confirmed, we already know that the electric scooter will pack an IP67 rated battery pack that can be charged through a 5-15 amp electric outlet. Bajaj Auto has equipped the Chetak with an Intelligent Battery Management System that controls charge and the discharge. The scooter will feature two modes - Eco (100 km range) and Sport (80 km range).

In terms of design, the retro-styling of the Chetak electric is complemented by a list of modern equipment. The scooter will feature a LED headlight with LED DRL, LED blinkers and the Chetak branding on the front apron. A fully digital instrument console and backlit switchgear will be part of the cockpit. The rear section of the scooter gets split-style LED stoplight and LED blinkers. The steel-body will improve the premium look and feel of the electric scooter. Hardware specifications of the new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter comprise single-sided suspension at the front and a single-sided spring at the rear. Braking duties will be performed by disc brakes at the front and a drum unit at the back.
