As the Bajaj electric scooter's road testing continues, a test mule has been spotted once again on the streets of Pune. The electric scooter will most likely arrive under Urbanite brand.
The new spy shots capture the electric scooter from the rear. The design of the taillight and rear blinkers is hidden behind the camouflage stickers. However, the number plate at the back with an illuminator is clearly visible. Previous spy photos of the scooter captured the front of the motorcycle, revealing a pentagon-shaped headlight. The styling gives it a proper retro look while the LED DRL gives it a modern styling. The headlamp is most likely a full LED unit. The front blinkers, as revealed in the spy photographs, are installed on the apron.
Another set of spy images had revealed split style LED taillight, single-piece pillion grab rail with a thick centre and backlit switchgear. Bajaj Auto has been using backlit switchgear on its existing range of motorcycles. The leaked sketches showed a circular shape for the instrument console, and the upcoming electric scooter will most definitely come with a digital display. The rear-view mirrors, as seen in the sketches and the latest set of spy shots, carry a triangular shape. We expect the upcoming scooter to feature chrome highlights to enhance the retro look. The under-seat space will most likely come with a USB port as an optional accessory.
Shock absorption tasks are performed by a single-sided front suspension with anti-dive. The scooter rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels. The braking department should comprise drum brakes on both wheels, although a disc option should be offered. The safety net would carry ABS or CBS tech depending on the power output figure.

At the beginning of this year, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, had said that the Urbanite's launch will take place later this year. There have been no further developments on the launch timeline since. The company plans to have a separate network of dealerships for electric vehicles.
