Update: A new video by Rushlane captures the upcoming electric scooter in action.
The upcoming Bajaj scooter that will be launched under the Urbanite brand has been spotted for the first time. Two heavily camouflaged test mules of the new Bajaj scooter were seen somewhere near Pune.

Bajaj Auto will introduce electric as well as petrol scooters under the Urbanite brand. The vehicle that you see in the photograph is an electric-powered product that is expected to arrive by the end of this year. The spy images only reveal the rear of the scooter and the styling appears to be similar to the leaked sketches that were seen in February this year. However, close inspection reveals a missing exhaust outlet.
The rear of the scooter seems to have twin-pod, LED tail lamps. The spy shots show a unique pillion grab rail design with a thicker centre portion. The cockpit appears to have backlit switchgear – a feature that is common on Bajaj motorcycles. The instrument console isn’t visible, but the scooter should come with a compact, semi-digital meter. The leaked sketches had shown a circular shape for the instrument console. The rear-view mirrors, as seen in the sketches, have a triangular shape and are designed to match the retro styling of the scooter.
The leaked drawings of the scooter had shown storage space behind the apron as well. The retro-style front fascia will include a pentagon-shaped headlight with curvy edges and front blinkers installed on the apron. We expect to see several chrome highlights to the scooter that will be aimed at enhancing its retro design.
The engine specifications are unavailable at the moment but we hope to hear more information as the launch comes closer. Hardware specifications, as seen in the leaked sketches, will include a single-sided front suspension with anti-dive, drum brakes on both wheels and multi-spoke alloy wheels. A front disc brake shall be available as an optional extra.

A report from February this year claimed that the first product under the Urbanite brand, an electric scooter, would arrive towards the end of 2019. We expect the petrol-powered product to also debut around the same time.
