The Diavel 1260 will replace the Diavel 1200, a motorcycle that is sold out. It will be sold in two variants – standard and S. Do note that Ducati India is yet to announce the launch date for the new Diavel.
Unveiled at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, the power cruiser packs a 1,262 cc Ducati Testastretta DVT, L-twin cylinder, 8-valves (4-valves per cylinder), dual spark, liquid-cooled engine with Desmodromic Variable Timing that makes 159 hp of max power at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The motor is paired with a six-speed transmission.
Ducati has also upgraded the motorcycle’s chassis for better response. The new 2019 Diavel 1260 uses a new tubular steel Trellis frame. The power cruiser continues to ride on 17-inch inch rear wheel with a 240 mm wide tyre.
The sportier S version of the power cruiser packs more premium features over the standard model. The Diavel 1260 S uses fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions at both, front and rear. The stopping power on the Diavel 1260 S comes from Brembo M50 callipers while the standard model uses Brembo M4.32 callipers. The S version also packs Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo (DQS) as standard and benefits from Ducati Multimedia System and Ducati Link App.
The 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU) works with the electronic package. The motorcycle comes equipped with features such as Cruise Control, Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO and Ducati Power Launch (DPL) EVO. Other highlights include backlit handlebar switches, 3.5” TFT colour display, full LED lighting system and self-cancelling turn indicators.
