The spy media is too grainy to decode the design of the bike, but we have already seen photos of the 2019 Yamaha FZ FI on test in October. According to the spy shots, the new FZ FI will receive an entirely new design featuring an LED headlight with a fully-digital instrument cluster (similar to the Yamaha FZ25).
The definitive design highlight comes in the form of a new muscular fuel tank along with tank-extensions and a faux radiator cowl. The tail section has been revised, while the motorcycle will feature a single-piece seat. Rest of the mechanicals and peripherals seem unchanged. Overall, India Yamaha Motor has preserved the FZ silhouette.
While India Yamaha Motor has not announced the timelines of the 2019 Yamaha FZ FI, we can safely assume it to launch in the first quarter of next year. What we are sure about is that the new FZ series will feature ABS as standard.
While there’s no word on the engine specifications, we expect it to remain unchanged on the new models. The Yamaha FZ-S and the FZ FI are both powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder engine with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology. The motor delivers an output of 13.2 PS and 12.8 Nm, paired to a five-speed gearbox.

The Yamaha FZ series is the only bike in its segment to feature fuel injection as standard across the range. The FZ FI and the FZ-S compete with the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the Honda X-Blade.
