Royal Enfield has displayed the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 to dealers in India. The 650 Twins, as reported on October 13, will be launched in India on November 14. The photographs from the dealer meeting were posted on North Delhi Motorcycles’ Facebook page. If you look closely, the motorcycle is one of the test mules of the Interceptor INT 650 with no badge or graphics.

Prices for the Royal Enfield 650 twins are expected to fall between INR 2.50-3 lakh (ex-showroom); making them the most affordable 650cc twin-cylinder motorcycles in the Indian market. For that price, you will get Royal Enfield’s all-new 648 cc, parallel-twin cylinder, SOHC, oil-cooled, 8-valve engine that is tuned to produce 47 bhp of maximum power at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5,200 rpm. The engine is mated to Royal Enfield’s first 6-speed gearbox and gets slip-assist clutch as standard.
Both motorcycles are built around a steel tubular double cradle chassis and share a similar tech spec sheet. Stopping power is provided by 320 mm single disc at the front and a 240 mm single disc at the rear while the safety net of dual-channel ABS comes as standard. Suspension duties are performed by 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear.
The Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 ride on 18-inch wire-spoke wheels that further enhance their retro looks. Both motorcycles use 100-section front and 130-section rear tube-type Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.
The difference between the motorcycles comes in the form of styling and ergonomics. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a retro roadster while the Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer. The roadster features a curvy fuel tank design, a single-piece handlebar, and a flat saddle. The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 gets clip-on handlebars, and a rider only saddle with a rear cowl instead of a pillion seat. However, the fully accessorized version of the cafe racer that was seen in September 2018 revealed the optional saddle that can accommodate a passenger.
The fuel tank capacities are marginally different on both the models. The Interceptor INT 650 gets a 13.7 litre fuel tank. The Continental GT 650, on the other hand, gets a relatively smaller 12.5 litre unit.
