Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 could be priced at INR 2.7 lakh - Report

According to a report from EVO India, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 could be priced at INR 2.70 lakh and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 could get a price tag of close to INR 3 lakh (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

We reported on October 13 that the Royal Enfield 650 twins would launch in India on 14 November. The 650 twins made their global debut at the EICMA 2017 in Milan, Italy. As a reference, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is priced at USD 5,999 (INR 4.42 lakh) onwards, while the prices of Interceptor 650 start at USD 5,799 (INR 4.27 lakh) in the USA.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a neo-classic roadster with a round fuel tank, wide handlebar, and an elongated single-piece seat. On the other hand, the Continental GT 650 is a modern-retro café racer, which comes with a tear-drop fuel tank, clip-on handlebars and a single seat.

Both the bikes feature a circular headlamp and chopped fenders at both the ends.

The Royal Enfield 650 twins feature 18-inch wire-spoke wheels at the front and rear that pair with tube-type Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. Braking force on the 650 twins is provided by a 320 mm front rotor and a 240 mm rear disc brake with Bybre callipers, while Bosch dual-channel ABS is standard.

The Royal Enfield 650 twins are propelled by an all-new 648 cc, parallel-twin cylinder, 8-valve, oil-cooled, SOHC engine. The fuel-injected motor is capable of churning out 47 bhp at 7,100 rpm and a peak torque of 52 Nm at 5,250 rpm. The engine works in harmony with Royal Enfield’s first 6-speed transmission. An assist & slipper clutch is offered as standard.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 comes with a fuel tank capacity of 12.5 litres, while the Interceptor 650 comes with a 13.7-litre fuel tank capacity. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has a kerb weight of 202 kg, while the Continental GT 650 tips the scales with a kerb weight of 197 kg.
