Siddhartha Lal reiterates that Royal Enfield is unfazed by competition from upcoming brands like Jawa, Yezdi, Triumph or Harley Davidson. However, he does concede that there are a few ‘dark clouds,’ but nothing that is “insurmountable”. Speaking to the business publication on the incoming names, Mr Lal said, -

Absolutely not, because I think it’s a testament to how well we’re doing that people are now suddenly sort of trying to revive old heritage brands. All the best for whoever is doing all that. But for us, it’s not a lost opportunity. Because we are a focused company.

Lal envisages making Royal Enfield a global brand in the next decade. He concedes that there’s no global brand from India, and believes that Royal Enfield could be that. Speaking about the company’s future ambitions, he added, -

Our ambition is not to make five brands to cover our flanks. Our plan is to make this one brand as a global brand and it’s not easy. This is the plan for the next decade to make a global brand. There is no global consumer brand out of India that I know of and this is the one that can be it.
