As the eighth generation Toyota Camry’s local testing continues, another batch of spy shots has surfaced online. The new mid-size sedan could go on sale towards the end of the year or early next year.
The eighth generation Toyota Camry is made in only one version globally, but there are two different stylings with distinctive bumpers and lower grille among other differences. One has a dapper look, while the other has the assertiveness of a sports sedan. India, going by spy shots, will get the version with the poised appearance (images in the second gallery).
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has stopped selling the old Camry petrol in India and offers only the hybrid variant. It may offer the new generation model exclusively in the hybrid variant that delivers an impressive fuel economy of 33.4 km/l (JC 08 test cycle). The eco-friendly variant’s powertrain uses the A25A-FXS 178 PS 2.5-litre petrol engine along with the 3NM 120 PS electric motor to deliver a combined maximum power of 211 PS.
On the outside, the new generation Toyota Camry will likely feature Bi-Beam LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lamps and LED tail lamps. Interior highlights may include 8-way power adjustable front seats with power lumbar support for the driver’s seat, dual-zone auto AC with rear seat vents, 7-inch MID, 8-inch central display and Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging.

The all-new Toyota Camry will compete with the VW Passat and Skoda Superb as well as the Honda Accord that is available only in a hybrid variant. Its price (ex-showroom Delhi) could fall in the INR 35-40 lakh bracket.
