The updated 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 with USD front forks, new exhaust and several other updates has been spied road testing for the first time with camouflage in Pune, courtesy of a spy image from Phantom Rides.
The updated Bajaj Dominar 400 was earlier spied uncamouflaged in the Ladakh region through a walkaround video. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 will feature several upgrades like new inverted front forks, twin-pod exhaust canister, redesigned rear-view mirrors and an updated instrument cluster. The front disc brake has been moved to the left side, owing to the introduction of the USD forks.
The new exhaust system has an inbuilt catalytic converter, which was earlier placed as a separate box under the engine. It not only limited the bike's ground clearance but also resulted in a higher kerb-weight. The new Bajaj Dominar 400 will reportedly also receive a ride-by-wire system, while the updated instrument cluster is likely to feature functions like a gear-position indicator, distance to empty, average fuel efficiency and instantaneous fuel economy.
Powering the current Bajaj Dominar 400 is a 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, BS-IV compliant, SOHC engine with liquid cooling. The fuel-injected motor is capable of generating a maximum power of 35 PS along with a peak torque of 35 Nm. The 4-valve motor is mated with a six-speed transmission, with a standard slipper clutch.
The engine on the updated Bajaj Dominar 400 is expected to feature a DOHC (Double Overhead Cam) setup, which should offer refinement and curb vibrations. According to a September report, Bajaj Auto is "now going to market new Dominars." The 2019 Dominar 400 could launch in India by early 2019.

With the feature additions, the updated Bajaj Dominar 400 is likely to carry a premium of around INR 15,000-20,000 over the current model. The Dominar 400 is currently priced at INR 1,48,043 and INR 1,62,074 for the non-ABS and ABS models, respectively (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi) with the former ineligible for sale in India past April 1, 2019.
