After unveiling the Mahindra Marazzo at the Nasik plant on Monday, the company, through dealer partners, will commence the regional launches of its new MPV on Tuesday. Within a few days, the new model is expected to become available at all authorised outlets in the country.
The Mahindra Marazzo has been jointly developed by teams from Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai and Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Troy, Michigan. The new MPV has been designed in cooperation between Mahindra's Kandivali-based design centre and Pininfarina. The design of the new model takes inspiration from a shark.
Powering the Mahindra Marazzo will be an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It produces a maximum power of 121 bhp along with a peak torque of 300 Nm. The motor will come paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The same diesel engine will also power the S201 sub-4-metre compact SUV that will launch by February next year.
The new Marazzo MPV will reportedly launch in four trim levels - M2, M4, M6, and M8. All the variants will offer segment-first roof-mounted surround cooling system. In compliance with the future safety regulations, dual front airbags, ABS, Isofix child seat mounts, and speed warning system will be a part of the standard equipment list across all the trims. The top-end model will get premium features like a cooled glovebox, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Cruise control, and Automatic climate control.
The Mahindra Marazzo will be slotted between the Scorpio and the XUV500. It will become first of the three all-new models that Mahindra hopes would clock a combined monthly sales of 8,500 units.
