Following their Indonesian launch this May, the 2018 Datsun GO, and 2018 Datsun GO+ have reached India for local testing. Anything On Wheels has released spy photos of the facelifted models undergoing tests in Chennai.

The 2018 Datsun GO and 2018 Datsun GO are expected to have structural changes and more standard safety equipment.

The 2018 Datsun GO and 2018 Datsun GO+ in India will likely look the same as in Indonesia, although, given the road conditions, we don’t expect Datsun to offer a sporty body kit here. The facelifted models should feature redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamps and vertical LED DRLs positioned separately in the front bumper.

Unlike the Indonesian-spec version, the Indian cars do not get ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The spy shots do confirm alloy wheels and rear wiper, two features unavailable in the old models.

The Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ will get a considerable amount of interior changes. Their updated models will have a redesigned dashboard with a lockable glovebox, redesigned centre console and a new instrument panel with a tachometer included.

Receiving a 0-star and 1-star rating respectively from the Global NCAP crash test, the GO and GO+ met with a PR disaster months into their launch in 2014. In fact, the safety agency called for the immediate discontinuation of the Go. With the mid-cycle action, both models are expected to get some changes to the frame and have dual airbags, speed limit reminder and rear parking sensors as standard.

The new Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ may come with a CVT or an AMT option.

The GO and GO+ are available with only a 68 PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission currently. With the facelift, the latter may gain a 78 PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a CVT as an option. A low-cost AMT would suit our market better than an expensive CVT, however.

The 2018 Datsun GO and 2018 Datsun GO+ will go on sale in India in late September.
