Just days after the Maruti Baleno’s sales crossed the 4-lakh sales milestone, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is in the news. The sub-4m SUV has achieved the fastest 3-lakh sales mark in its segment, clocking it in just 28 months.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza’s market launch was in March 2016, a month after its world premiere at Auto Expo 2016. By March 2017, its sales had crossed 1,00,000 units. The sales rapidly increased later. By May 2018, 2,75,000+ units were sold. The top-end ZDi and ZDi+ grades accounted for 56% of the sales. That month, Maruti Suzuki introduced a ‘minor model change’ with some equipment and styling changes and the introduction of the AGS option.
Just to recap, Maruti Suzuki changed the alloy wheels to black, front grille and tailgate garnish finish from silver to chrome (and made them standard) and introduced a new Autumn Orange paint colour with the roof optionally available in Pearl Arctic White. These cover only the exterior changes.
The new Maruti Vitara Brezza has an all-black interior instead of grey interior. It features new IP and door trim finish too. It offers enhanced safety with ISOFIX child-seat mounts and high-speed warning alert. Moreover, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiter, included in only the ZDi and ZDi+ grades, are now standard. Reverse parking sensors, not offered below the VDi grade, are also standard now.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza employs the D13A 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine that produces 66 kW (90 PS) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission or the 5-speed AGS automated manual transmission channels power to the wheels. AGS configurations account for 23% of the new bookings. Prices start at INR 7,52,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
