The facelifted Maruti Ciaz will go on sale in a few weeks which will add gusto to sales.

Sales figures of the close rivals Hyundai Verna and Honda City for June 2018 are awaited. Total sales of Maruti Suzuki grew by 36.3% Y-o-Y to 144,981 units during the same time. It includes 135,662 units in domestic sales and 9,319 units in exports. In June last year, the total sales stood at 106,394 units.

The Maruti Ciaz will gain a number of design, equipment and mechanical changes with its mid-cycle refresh in the coming weeks. The facelift will feature sharper headlamps, more prominent grille design, remodelled bumpers, new alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamps, revised instrument panel and new faux wood trim. Maruti Suzuki will start offering cruise control in its flagship sedan with this update. The company will also swap the K14B 1.4-litre petrol engine with the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine, and it will offer the new engine with the SHVS mild-hybrid system that should give it a higher mileage.

The K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine is a new naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit. On the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga, it produces 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic sends power to the wheels.
