With August nearing, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz is inching towards its launch. The latest development about the facelifted model, as per Team-BHP forum member blackwasp, is that its promo video shoots have commenced.
Maruti Suzuki has stopped dispatches of the old Ciaz. NEXA outlets are phasing out stocks for a discount of INR 40,000-1 lakh, it is reported. The facelifted Ciaz’s launch will take place soon after its sales training commences.
Maruti Suzuki has spruced up the Ciaz’s appearance with more elegance. The 2018 Maruti Ciaz features remodelled front bumper with C-shaped chrome garnish, a wider radiator grille connected to reshaped headlamps, new alloy wheels and tweaked tail lamp graphics. The new grille and lights feature a more angular design, while the spokes of the new alloy wheels have sharp cuts.
The new Maruti Ciaz’s interior won’t look much different from that of the outgoing model. Interior spy shots have shown that Maruti Suzuki has used wood trim of a softer tone and added cruise control. The new model’s instrument panel houses a bigger MID positioned lower for enhanced visibility and gauges with blue needles.
The SHVS mild-hybrid system is currently available in only the diesel engine model. Its availability will expand to the petrol engine model with the mid-cycle update. Also, Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the K14B 1.4L petrol engine in favour of the newly-developed K15B 1.5L petrol engine. The new naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine should deliver a maximum power of 100-105 PS and a maximum torque of 130-138 Nm.
5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission (petrol-only) should remain the transmission choices. The 1.3-litre diesel engine will likely continue as is at least until next year.
