The 2018 Mahindra Scorpio was snapped up close by an Autocar India reader, giving a better look at the new grille and revised bumper. Our rendering of the 2018 Mahindra Scorpio's face (facelift) incorporates most of the changes you see in the spy shot below.
The new grille seems to be inspired by that of the Mahindra Imperio, featuring vertical slats with bolder chrome inserts. It also gets a slightly restyled bumper with vertical slats in the airdam, turn indicators mounted on the ORVMs, and a new 16-inch alloy rim design. The posterior will receive slight tweaks, such as regular red-tinted LED taillamps (instead of clear lens units), flatter tailgate styling, and a new beam-style rear windshield wiper.
The facelifted Scorpio will pack the same transverse-mounted 2.2L mHawk 4-cyl turbodiesel motor, although reports speculate that power will be bumped to 140 bhp (20 bhp up). The 5-speed manual will be standard across the range, while the automatic variant is set to return with a new 6-speed Aisin torque converter. A 4WD drivetrain will be optional in high-end grades. In a recent report, company's managing director, Pawan Goenka had confirmed that Mahindra would launch a non-hybrid version of the Scorpio, given that the tax benefits for mild hybrid vehicles were removed in GST implementation.
Expect initial units to start arriving in showrooms in the coming weeks, as the market steps into the festive season. Prices could see a slight bump, ranging from INR 10.9 - INR 15.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
