HCIL launched the second generation Honda Amaze in May. By the end of the month, the company was able to dispatch 9,789 units to dealers, the highest number for a Honda model in a single month. The 2018 Honda Amaze has received more than 26,000 bookings so far, and the new model has helped sales of the Amaze nameplate grow by 7.6 times over June 2017. The previous generation Amaze could only manage sales of 1,193 units during the same month last year, facing unprecedented competition from the new Dzire.

The Amaze aided Honda's growth in the first quarter of FY2018-19. Compared to the 38,562 units sold over the same period last year, the company clocked 42,609 units posting an increase of 10.5%. There was a minor rise in total exports to 486 units from 450 units in June 2017.

Honda offers the Amaze in 1.2 L petrol and 1.5 L diesel variants. Both can be spec'd with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The petrol manual and CVT combinations have power and torque outputs of 90 PS and 110 Nm respectively. The diesel engine combined with the 5-speed MT makes 100 PS and 200 Nm while with a CVT the outputs come down to 80 PS and 160 Nm.
