Based on leaked official photographs of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny, IAB's Shoeb has created a rendering of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny's posterior. This follows our renderings of the front-end and in various colours.
The new Jimny will continue to be a 3-door SUV, featuring retro-futuristic styling path that combines the characteristic boxy SUV lines we do not see lately with a few modern touches. The posterior will have a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, taillights mounted on the black plastic bumper, and a tailgate that opens sideways. As for the front-end, it has vertical slats on the grille, round headlamps, clamshell bonnet and a black plastic bumper with fog lamps. The new Jimny's styling would not look out of place if it arrived in the 1980's or 90's, retaining its old world charm.
The 2018 Suzuki Jimny will ride on a body-on-frame construction, a feature unique to this Suzuki. For the powertrain, the company has a spade of naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline motors with displacements ranging from 0.66-litre to 1.4-litre to pick from. The next Jimny will offer an automatic option for the first time, while an ALLGRIP 4WD system will be standard.

According to a few reports, Suzuki’s new facility in Gujarat will serve as the global production hub for the next generation Suzuki Jimny. There is a possibility of it being launched in India as a next-gen Gypsy as well if Maruti is looking to expand its SUV portfolio. The Gujarat plant could work concurrently with Suzuki's Kosai production plant in Japan, which will make the car for the domestic market.
