BMW is showcasing the 2018 BMW M5 First Edition at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are the special edition sixth-gen M5's images from the show.
The 2018 BMW M5 First Edition features exclusive BMW Individual Frozen Dark Red Metallic paintwork. It includes BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim. The red colour is contrasted with high-gloss black-coloured double kidney grilles, M gills and M Sport exhaust system's four tailpipes. 20-inch seven-double-spoke alloy wheels in black are standard.
Inside, the 2018 BMW M5 First Edition again gets special treatment. The plaque on the centre console reading the production number to signify the car's exclusivity complements the Piano Black applications. M multi-function seats are standard. Full-leather upholstery in Smoke White with red contrast stitching is available.
The 2018 BMW M5 First Edition sports the same 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo engine as the 2018 BMW M5. The bi-turbo V8 petrol mill puts out 600 PS from 5,600-6,700 rpm and 750 Nm of torque from 1,800-5,600 rpm. The 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission is standard. The sixth-gen M5 has the M xDrive all-wheel drive system as well, but there is an option drive the car in rear-wheel drive with Dynamic Stability Control switched off. A 0-100 km/h sprint takes 3.4 seconds. It goes without saying that BMW has electronically limited the top speed to 250 km/h. Those willing to go faster will have to shell out extra to install the M Driver’s Package option. Then, the maximum speed will increase to 305 km/h.
BMW will sell only 400 copies of the 2018 BMW M5 First Edition. Order books open this September. Deliveries will commence in Spring 2018 (March-May 2018) and continue until June 2018 at the latest. The First Edition model has a hefty premium of €19,500 (INR 14,97,069.04) to it, retailing at €1,17,900 (INR 90,51,509.74).
