The new 2017 KTM Duke 390 is powered by a 373.2 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected mill which is assisted by a slipper clutch. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox the engine is capable of producing 43.5 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. It boasts of a power-to-weight ratio of 267 PS/tonne. The bike also gets a ride by wire and adjustable front brake and clutch lever. The lightweight steel trellis gets a bolt on sub-frame while the rearview mirrors are also larger.

The instrumentation console is an all new, first in class TFT screen with MyLink system which allows the rider to pair their smartphone with the bike via Bluetooth. The seat height has been increased by 30 mm to 830 mm, and the ground clearance has been increased by 15 mm to 185 mm. The bike now tips the scales (dry) at 149 kg. Brakes include a 320 mm disc with four-piston radial fixed calliper up front and a 230 mm single disc in the rear with a single piston floating calliper.

ABS is standard in the bike and is switchable. The 2017 KTM Duke 390 also gains ride by wire for a smoother power delivery. The side slung aluminium exhaust system is also new and is Euro 4 compliant. The fuel tank storage volume has also been increased and can now store 13.5 litres of petrol. The LED headlamp with DRL is probably one of the most eye-catching section of the bike and resembles the one seen in KTM’s flagship 1290 Duke.
