Launch expected to take place in H1 2016.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series (BMW G30) has been spied on a flat-bed in Pune by Autocar India reader, Santhosh K. The model spotted appears to be the top-end M-Sport grade, featuring sportier bumpers, dual exhaust pipes and large alloy rims.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series is expected to launch in H1 2017. Like the current model, it will be locally assembled at their plant in the outskirts of Chennai. The new 5-series is likely to be sold in three variants: 520d (190 hp), 530d (265 hp) and 530i (252 hp).
The 520d and 530i pack 2.0L 4-cyl TwinPower diesel and petrol engines, respectively, while the 530d is powered by a 3.0L inline-six turbodiesel engine. All variants are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard, which sends power to the rear wheels. The next generation BMW M5 will launch at a much later time, packing a 4.4L V8 twin turbo with over 600 hp.
