Likely in showrooms in India in mid-2017.
The 2017 Audi Q5 has been spied testing near Mumbai by a Motorbeam reader, flaunting no camouflage or black wrapping typical of pre-production Audi test vehicles. The second generation Q5 is expected to launch for sale in H2 2017, and will be assembled at Audi's plant in Aurangabad.
The current Audi Q5 is only available with a 2.0 TDI engine paired with the 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox and Quattro AWD system. This combination is more than likely to be offered in the next generation Audi Q5 as well, but with slightly more power. A petrol variant could also be offered at launch, which packs a 252 PS 2.0L TFSI also paired with a 7-speed S-Tronic and Quattro AWD as standard.
Compared to the model it replaces, the new Q5 is 34 mm longer, 51 mm wider, 4 mm taller, and 12 mm longer in wheelbase. Despite growing in size, it has managed to trim up to 90 kg, courtesy of the new MLB Evo platform that it shares with siblings new Audi A4, Q7 and A5.
Expect the top-end 'Technology' grade to come equipped with features like Matrix LED headlights, dynamic turn signals, ambient lighting with 30 different colours, Audi Virtual Cockpit with a 12.3-inch high-resolution driver's display, head-up display, MMI Navigation Plus infotainment system with an 8.3-inch display and MMI Touch, Qi wireless charging, and tri-zone climate control.
