Renault India dropped the first teaser of the Renault Kwid AMT with the slogan "Get Ready to Change the Way you Drive", last week, suggesting that the launch was in days. One dealer said that the price announcement would be made in mid-November. IndianAutosBlog has written to Renault for an official response.

The Renault Kwid Automatic will come with the 'Shift Control Dial' which will offer three driving modes - Reverse, Neutral and Drive. The in-built 'Crawl' function helps the car move forward and back without throttle input.

The Kwid's Easy-R AMT unit is a 5-speed that will be exclusive to the Kwid 1.0L, which packs a 999 cc engine that produces 68 PS and 91 Nm. With the 5-speed manual box, the Kwid 1.0 is capable of averaging 23.01 km/L, and the AMT variant will return the same mileage.

Unlike the AGS unit in Maruti Alto K10, the Renault Kwid AMT will not come with manual shifting modes or a conventional gear selector. The gear shifting is via a dial located on the center console.
