AMT is installed only with the 1.0-litre engine as of now.
Renault India has presented the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre variant and the Renault Kwid AMT at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida today. The AMT is available only on the Kwid 1.0.
The Renault Kwid 1.0 is powered by an all-new 1.0 SCe (Smart Control efficiency) engine with DOHC and four valves per cylinder. The power and torque specifications of this engine are not released yet. The engine is showcased with a five-speed manual gearbox as well as with the anticipated five-speed AMT.
The new Easy-R Gear Box by Renault is a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission system derived from Renault's Formula 1 expertise, the company says. It can be operated with an Innovative Shift Control Dial with three driving modes - Reverse, Neutral and Drive - placed beneath the infotainment system on the centre console.
The Renault Kwid's AMT uses an advanced control unit that continuously optimises gear shifting and thereby the acceleration by monitoring the throttle input. It is equipped with the crawl function that enables the car to move slowly at idle speed when just the brake is released while throttle is not used. The crawl function works in forward and reverse motion/mode.
