Expected to debut at 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
According to a report on Autocar India, Maruti-Suzuki is considering the introduction of the next-generation 2017 Maruti Swift Sport in the country. The Swift Sport has been in existence for the past two generations of the Swift, but was never sold in India. The outgoing Swift Sport was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, but more along the lines of building brand awareness among consumers rather than introducing it in the market.
Images of the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport have already leaked on the internet, previewing aggressively-styled airdams, twin exhaust pipes, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and red inserts for the interior. According to reports, it will ditch the naturally-aspired 1.6-liter engine for the turbocharged 1.4-liter Boosterjet four-cylinder unit which serves duty on the Suzuki Vitara S.
This unit develops 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque, which should give the new Swift Sport a sub-9 second 0-100 km/h acceleration time, considering it is expected to weigh under 1,000 kg. According to the report, Maruti will manufacture this engine at its Manesar plant where it also makes the 1.0-liter three-cylinder Boosterjet engine for the export-spec Baleno and forthcoming Baleno RS.

The 2017 Swift Sport is also expected to debut along with the regular new generation Swift at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. Expect the new gen models to launch in India within 12 months of their European launches.
