Both are based on the CMF-A platform.

Datsun will reveal their newest entry-level hatchback on April 14, which will be the second product to ride on the CMF-A platform. Here's a brief comparison of the exterior with the first CMF-A product, the Renault Kwid.

The Datsun redi-GO's exterior design is similar to the concept car from the Auto Expo 2014, which is an evolution of the styling seen in current models. Compared to the redi-GO, the Renault Kwid looks rugged and stronger with black plastic body cladding, high ground clearance and SUV-like looks.

The redi-GO's rear-end features vertical taillamps, contoured tailgate and separate reflectors on the lower bumper. It's unclear if the redi-GO will be available with alloy wheels, or only offer wheel caps to cover the steel wheels.

Power could be sourced from the Renault’s 0.8-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine that develops 54 PS (53 hp) and 74 Nm of torque in the Renault Kwid. The latter’s 5-speed manual transmission should also be shared, albeit with slightly revised ratios.

It remains to be seen if the Datsun redi-GO comes with an AMT at the time of launch, or like the Renault Kwid, the technology will be reserved for a later date.
