2017 Lincoln Continental exterior, interior unofficially revealed – Report
I’m the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Is the successor to the Lincoln MKS.
The exterior and interior of the 2017 Lincoln Continental has been revealed ahead of the car’s world debut at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Apparently someone has managed to click shots of the sedan and its video footage at the Cobo Center where it will be unveiled in the hours ahead.
The alleged leaked image that surfaced last week was probably of a base model, because the car taking center stage in Detroit has a more premium front-end with premium headlamps featuring LED lights, chrome surround on the upper grille and a chrome strip tipping the bumper. The side profile and rear-end are very close to the Lincoln Continental Concept, as the changes are minimal. There’s lesser use of chrome and the tail lamps’ outer-end has been re-shaped. The tail lamp graphics have also been tweaked.
On the inside, the Lincoln MKS successor is close to the concept it’s based on. The steering wheel appears to be similar and the infotainment system with push-button gear selector on its left also seems to be completely carried over from the concept. Similarly, the engine start-stop button lies just between the steering wheel and the infotainment system on the dashboard.
The 2017 Lincoln Continental, reports say, will be powered by the Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter GTDI twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine that debuted in the 2017 Lincoln MKZ. It produces up to 400 hp and 400 lb.-ft. (542 Nm) of torque in the latter. The flagship sedan will be built at the Ford Motor Company’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan and should go on sale in the U.S. market in H2 2016.
