The 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spotted again in Thailand as it continues to test extensively. The next gen SUV would go on sale in select Southeast Asian markets next year.
The new Fortuner is reported to be significantly lighter than the outgoing model thanks to a new ladder frame chassis that will also underpin the new Hilux pickup. The duo would be powered by newly developed petrol and diesel engines.
From the spyshots it can be observed that while the dimensions and stance have not changed much, the front and rear fascia designs have been given a complete makeover. The head- and tail-lights have sharp edges and the new SUV appears to employ more chrome than before. Inside, one can expect a revamped dashboard.
The Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched in India sometime in 2016 and in the interim, Toyota Kirloskar Motor would be introducing two new variants, one at the entry level with a 2.5-litre diesel engine and one right at the top with the 3.0-litre engine mated to an automatic transmission and a 4x4 system.
